Integrative Therapy Concepts, Inc. (ITC), a pediatric occupational therapy clinic located in Mooresville, North Carolina, was acquired by Pediatric Advanced Therapy (PAT) last month. Kelly Gianopoulos, founder and president of ITC will remain with PAT as a partner and clinical director. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1999 in Mooresville, Integrative Therapy Concepts has grown to two clinics and 17 employees. At over 12,000 square feet, the flagship clinic in Mooresville, North Carolina is the largest pediatric therapy clinic in the Carolinas and is considered one of the premier occupational therapy facilities in the country. The recently opened satellite facility in Salisbury, North Carolina was added to handle the growing patient base at ITC.
Pediatric Advanced Therapy focuses on children with autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, developmental delays, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, and other conditions. PAT’s professional staff, trained in advanced Sensory Integration Theory and therapeutic techniques, can assist a child with sensory processing deficits and his family by recognizing areas of difficulties and setting up goals to improve the child’s functional performance. Occupational therapists use selected therapeutic activities and purposeful play to develop the necessary skills needed for the child to participate fully in school, home or community activities.
With the closing of this transaction, new owners Lonny and Julie Bernath bring a strong combination of business acumen and occupational therapy experience. With nearly 20 years of experience as an occupational therapist in both hospital and outpatient environments, Julie brings a deep and diverse clinical knowledge to the business. Lonny has been a successful entrepreneur in multiple industries and will assist with the business side of this growing venture.
The new partnership will be focused on multiple opportunities for growth, including the addition of other pediatric therapy disciplines, the expansion of their school based business and the opening of other world class facilities in the Charlotte area.
